어느덧 2019년의 4월을 지나고 있습니다.

It's already past April 2019. 



2019년 1월 1일이 된 지 어제 같은데, 새해 다짐을 마음속 깊이 기억하고 실천들 하고 계시는가요.

2019년 1월, 무척 추운 겨울을 지나 2월에는 많은 사건 사고로 정신이 없었다가 미세먼지가 넘치는 3월을 보내며 2019년 1분기를 지나왔습니다.

2019년 4월에는 특별한 휴일이 없어서 직장인들에게 무척이나 힘든 1개월이 될 것으로 예상됩니다.

연차휴가를 쓰기 힘든 직장인은 주말만이 유일한 휴일로 순수 근무 일수가 4월에만 무려 22일입니다.

힘든 4월의 직장생활을 조금만 더 버티면 5월에는 기다리던 근로자의 날과 5월 6일 월요일이 대체 공휴일로 지정되어 있습니다.

If you endure a little longer in April, you will be eligible for Labor Day in May and Monday, May 6th as an alternative holiday. 

 



그중 달력에는 빨간 날이 아닌 5월 1일 근로자의 날이 정말 휴일인지 궁금해하는 직장인들이 많을 것 같습니다.

매년 5월 1일은 근로자의 날로 노동자의 열악한 근로조건을 개선하고 지위를 향상하기 위해 각국의 노동자들이 연대 의식을 다지기 위한 법정기념일이라고 합니다.

Every May 1st is a legal day for workers from all over the world to strengthen their solidarity to improve their poor working conditions and improve their status. 

 

 



따라서, 대한민국의 근로자의 날은 정확하게는 공휴일이 아닌 '유급휴일'로 쉬는 날이 맞습니다.

Therefore, workers' day in Korea is not exactly a holiday, but a day off on a paid holiday. 




법률이나 관공서의 공휴일에 관한 규정에서 정한 법정 공휴일은 아니지만 쉬는 날이 맞습니다.

It's not a legal holiday as stipulated by law or regulations on public holidays, but it's a day off. 

 



하지만 당일 직장에 출근해서 업무를 수행 하도 고용주가 불법을 저지른 것은 아닙니다.
However, even if you go to work on the same day, your employer has not done anything illegal. 


그래서 관공서 공무원, 학교, 종합병원, 주민센터, 시청 군청 구청 등에에게는 적용되지 않습니다.

That is why it does not apply to government officials, schools, general hospitals, community centers, county offices and ward offices in the city hall. 




대신, 일급으로 계산하는 근로자의 경우는 유급수당과 근무급여, 휴일 근무 사간 수당이 포함된 평소 대비 2.5배의 임금을 지급받을 수 있습니다.

Instead, workers who calculate on a daily basis can receive 2.5 times more wages than usual, including paid benefits, working benefits and holiday inter-office allowances. 

 






직장인들에게는 쉬는 날이지만 유치원과 학교는 정상적으로 운영되는 날이기에 학생들은 등교해야 합니다.

It's a day off for office workers, but kindergarten and school are working normally, so students have to go to school. 




다행히 2019년 5월 1일 근로자의 날은 수요일이라서 많은 근로자분들이 쉴 수 있는데요.

Fortunately, May 1, 2019 Labor Day is Wednesday, so many workers can take a break. 

토요일과 일요일이 근로자의 날로 된다면 대체휴일이 가능한지도 궁금해하시는 분들이 많으실 겁니다.

아쉽지만, 근로자의 날은 공휴일이 아닌, 유급휴일의 개념이기 때문에 근로자의 날이 토요일과 일요일이라도 대체휴일이 생성되지는 않는다는 게 원칙입니다.

Unfortunately, because Labor Day is not a national holiday, but a paid holiday, the principle is that Labor Day will not be created even on Saturdays and Sundays. 



대체휴일의 개념은 공휴일에 관한 규정을 기반으로 존재하기 때문에 이에 대해서는 다음에 자세히 알아보도록 하겠습니다.

2019년 대한민국의 근로자의 날이 곧 다가오고, 그 다음 주 바로 대체 공휴일이 5월 6일 월요일에 생겼습니다.
